Lord Jahza – Razorektion

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

The Nigerian underground gate keeper is back in the booth airing out Nigerian artists over the instrumental of Jay-Z’s controversial track “Death of Autotune”. The imperial Jahza used four minutes and twenty seconds to talk about the present state of Nigeria which is embarrassing, and touched base on some often overlooked issues in the music industry. I personally think it is high time someone takes the vacant position of a crusader in the industry.

There is absolutely nothing wrong if Nigerian artists are emulating the genre of music (Dancehall) that originated in Jamaica in the late 1970s but its improper usage is the crime they are committing. Dancehall was used by Jamaicans to fight for social and political changes; so why are we dancing away our problems while our situation hasn’t improved? And like the late Baba 70 would say “Suffering and smiling” lol when are we going to wake up from our forty something years of quiescent?

Fela Anikulapo Kuti studied in United Kingdom in the late 1950s and despite his exposure he didn’t fake his accent and was still influential. The point is Nigerian artists need to put a halt to their gimmick and face the issue at hand instead of pretending as if they are not the voice of this generation. No one is telling them not to get paid for their input in the industry but you can fight for a cause with your music and still make money (Word Up!). I don’t even know what to make of the fact that they have abused and are still abusing the word “swagger” and you might want to ask them why they are wearing a muffler. Guys a muffler is worn around the neck for warmth and I don’t think you all need a muffler in that hot climate. We must not all sleep and face the same direction and I am using this medium to say thank you to Lord Jahza for using “Death of Autotune” “Razorektion” as a wake-up call for these bunch of sleepwalking artists.

The track is off DJ Majesty’s upcoming mixtape “LYRICISTS LOUNGE 2″ – Keep Keeping it 100 Lord Jahza.

Jay-Z – My President is Black [Remix]

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

LYRICS

[Chorus]

My president is black
my maybach too
and i’ll be goddamned if my diamonds ain’t blue
my money’s dark green
and my porche is light grey
and i’m headed for DC, anybody feel me?

[Verse ]

My president is Black, in fact he’s half white
so even in a racist mind, he’s half right
If you’ve  a racist mind, you be all right
my president is black, but his house is all white
rosa parks sat so martin luther could walk
martin luther walked so barack obama could run
barack obama ran so all our children could fly
so i’m a spread my wings, you could meet me in the sky

I already got my own clothes, already got my own shoes
i was hot before barack, imagine what i’m gonn do
hello miss america, hey pertty lady
red white and blue flag, wave for me baby
never thought id say this shit, baby i’m good
you can keep your puss, i dont want no more bush
no more war, no more iraq
no more white lies – the president is black!
