Ese Peters – Walk Away

As a music aficionado you simply can’t just help it but to keep searching the web and other outlets for both new and old artists that most people tends to ignore. So this week I have decided to go the “alternative music” route (that’s if most of these popular guys won’t be releasing their records this week), you know music that falls outside the boundaries of your usual pop (a.k.a. popcorn music), rap, r&b, crooners and all that.

And you better believe it that the music you are about to listen to is coming straight out of Nigeria because this dude shows an incredible talent on the guitar coupled with his genuine writing skills. Anyways, Ese Peters grew up in Lagos but didn’t pay much attention to his musical talent until his friend made him a mix-tape of songs from the 90s band like The Goo Goo and Creed. The mix-tape CD and the performance of “Your body is A Wonderland” by John Mayer at the 2003 Grammy awards ceremony became the defining moment of his music career. Later, he borrowed money from his mother to purchase his first guitar and started learning how to play by himself. His story is reminder that you can accomplish anything just by putting your mind into it. The musicianship is worth of mentioning as well because Ese Peters writes, performs, plays the instrument and his singing is far too well executed to be considered tacky. Enjoy the relaxing song and watch the space for more from him.
