Lord Jahza – Razorektion

The Nigerian underground gate keeper is back in the booth airing out Nigerian artists over the instrumental of Jay-Z’s controversial track “Death of Autotune”. The imperial Jahza used four minutes and twenty seconds to talk about the present state of Nigeria which is embarrassing, and touched base on some often overlooked issues in the music industry. I personally think it is high time someone takes the vacant position of a crusader in the industry.

There is absolutely nothing wrong if Nigerian artists are emulating the genre of music (Dancehall) that originated in Jamaica in the late 1970s but its improper usage is the crime they are committing. Dancehall was used by Jamaicans to fight for social and political changes; so why are we dancing away our problems while our situation hasn’t improved? And like the late Baba 70 would say “Suffering and smiling” lol when are we going to wake up from our forty something years of quiescent?

Fela Anikulapo Kuti studied in United Kingdom in the late 1950s and despite his exposure he didn’t fake his accent and was still influential. The point is Nigerian artists need to put a halt to their gimmick and face the issue at hand instead of pretending as if they are not the voice of this generation. No one is telling them not to get paid for their input in the industry but you can fight for a cause with your music and still make money (Word Up!). I don’t even know what to make of the fact that they have abused and are still abusing the word “swagger” and you might want to ask them why they are wearing a muffler. Guys a muffler is worn around the neck for warmth and I don’t think you all need a muffler in that hot climate. We must not all sleep and face the same direction and I am using this medium to say thank you to Lord Jahza for using “Death of Autotune” “Razorektion” as a wake-up call for these bunch of sleepwalking artists.

The track is off DJ Majesty’s upcoming mixtape “LYRICISTS LOUNGE 2″ – Keep Keeping it 100 Lord Jahza.

    As a fan of Hip Hop, this track by Lord Jahza is good because he addresses issues that nobody else seems to give a damn about. The low points on this joint are few but they can be worked on (e.g delivery, metaphors and fact).

    Big Pun didn’t die in ’94 and I’m sure he knows that but the way he delivers the lyrics can make it seem like that’s what he was saying. One more thing, you do not resurrect a dead person with a moment of silence. Moments of silence are done to wish the souls of the dead eternal rest.

    Just stating the facts.

    Big ups to Lord Jahza though. The future belongs to real mc’s like him.

    yo man thanks lord jahza for dis wake up call 4 naija musicians at one stage i was gettin sick myself of hearin d same songs about woman yansh. dere is defo a lack of originality nd creativity in d naija music scene which needs 2 b restored. but d thin is dat we need a balance.50% hardcore nd 50% dance songs. not 95% dance songs bcuz i`m actually bored of hearin rhymes lik (i lik d way she dey redi, dis gal na sexi lady) real talk. shout out 2 lord jahza do ur thing nd bring real hip hop

    @ eric b….the song aint about resurrecting people..its a metaphorical reference to resurrecting skill set of hiphop….so it requires a moment of zero chit chatter i.e a moment of respect…..
    secondly, the delivery is on fucking point..so i dont see where u are getting at… my boi aint trying to sound like jayz or t lil wayne..he has his own voice….
    finally every song cant be metaphorical….

    @monster
    You contradict yourself when you say “finally every song cant be metaphorical…” but you had earlier said “the song aint about resurrecting people..its a METAPHORICAL reference to resurrecting skill set of hiphop”!

    And whether it’s a skill set or a dead person being resurrected, it still is illogical to do so with a moment of silence.

    End of discussion!

    @ eric b….lemme rephrase that….every song shouldnt be punchline heavy, and by metaphorical i was talking about the title, not the lyrics…understand the context of the discussion before u start catching feelings…this song is hot..period….
