Str8buttah – Set It Off

September 2nd, 2010

Super rap group Str8buttah which consist of six rappers; Teckzilla, R Cube, Deck, Enigma, Mr. Rae and XYZ are arguably the best rap group Nigeria has produced based on lyricism, skill and consistency.

“Set it off” is a single off their compilation mixtape “The Lost Gemz” and packs enough punch to knock your favourite skinny jeans wearing MC off the radar.

YQ – E fimile Remix ft. M.I, eLDee, Naeto C, Ice Prince & Banky W

September 1st, 2010

R&B/Pop sensation YQ has finally released his much awaited debut album which is currently in stores. I came across the remix of his biggest hit so far “E fimile” on the album. Here, he  calls on a couple of artistes in high music demand to up the ante of the single. Sadly M.I, eLDee, Naeto C, Ice Prince and Banky W cannot topple the original song which featured two outstanding verses from the late Dagrin… RIP O’grin.

Introducing: GQ

September 1st, 2010

He has been releasing a 3-track mix-tape on the monthly basis for the past months or so now and you’ll be able to download the three tracks from month 5 and listen to some tracks from the previous months. Enjoy and spread the word about this cat like wild fire.

Bursting in on the hip-hop scene in Nigeria when he recorded “Tomorrow Never Comes” with producer Machyld. GQ is an emcee who fell in love with words at a very tender age thanks to a father and mother who instilled a deep appreciation for books and reading; and a brother who stacked comic books. Simultaneously, he was also getting a solid background in music with his father constantly feeding him classic country music. With time GQ evolved from a poet to a lyricist of above-average ability and a commanding presence on the mic blazing mix-tape after mix-tape with giant producers like Micworx, XO, El Jabbarad and so on. After years well spent developing and rounding off his craft, GQ is ready to share his words and music.
